The safety margins between helicopters and aircraft arriving on DCA’s RWY 33 could be as small as 75 feet. Yesterday, the NTSB made two urgent safety recommendations to the FAA to permanently solve that danger: www.flightradar24.com/blog/flight-...

"In years past, D.C. was allowed to spend according to the annual balanced budgets that Bowser and the D.C. Council formulate and pass."

"But... Republicans opted instead to treat D.C. the same as a federal agency, freezing funds and thus forcing the city to revert to its fiscal year 2024 budget"
US House's federal spending bill could force DC—the city—to immediately cut $1 billion in expenditures.

GOP chair of appropriations committee said "We’re not taking anything that affects the day to day operation of municipal services."

But the bill would force a 16% cut to schools, police & more.
Dollars and nonsense: House Republicans vote to defund D.C. police and schools
Congress could force D.C. to cut $1.1 billion out of its local budget, which could lead to cuts in services and layoffs.

The democrats showing was absolutely embarrassing last night. This party is essentially allowing Trump and his cronies to get away with whatever they want.
Column: Trump’s policies could rekindle the resistance, but last night during the president's joint address, House members put the focus on themselves instead, writes our Capitol bureau chief Rachael Bade.

There have been just two U.S. airline fatalities since the 2009 Colgan crash. In 2018, the failure of an engine aboard a Southwest flight caused a passenger to be partially sucked out the window and in 2019 a PenAir turboprop experienced an overrun in AK causing a prop blade to impact the fuselage.

i think rage at congestion pricing is a good example of how no one believes that the world can be positive sum anymore. like, people pay a small fee to get access to a faster commute — saving them valuable time — and the money improves public transit, saving other people valuable time. it's win-win!

Congratulations, New York City! Now please stop calling it "congestion pricing". It's the "Congestion Relief Zone," because congestion relief is what the toll buys.
It’s happening! Tonight, MTA Chair & CEO Janno Lieber unveiled one of the signs at the entrance to the Congestion Relief Zone. Tolling begins at midnight.
