Just realized I never properly re-introduced myself. Hi, I’m Jason, aka @airlineflyer. I post about airplanes, airports, trains, public transit and travel. I co-host @flightradar24.com’s AvTalk podcast with @petchmo.bsky.social.

Looking forward to reconnecting with familiar names meeting new ones.
Hey wow Seoul Station has a giant LED screen in the main hall just like Moynihan Train Hall but also uses part of it for a fantastic animated train status and information display.

Imagine that.

One thing MTA M did right compared to Seoul was the deployment of wireless teleco infrastructure in the subway sharing a neutral system.
Every carrier here has its own equipment everywhere, even on trains, and it adds so much clutter. Old equipment (2G, WiBro?!) is also seemingly abandoned in place.

I watched the disappointment rain over @wandrme.paxex.aero yesterday as he discovered a great biz fare home, only to realize it was for the wrong day.

Glad he found it for real this time 🤣
Persistence pays off with award bookings.

Originally had a Y award ticket home from Asia. Eventually found PremY, though not as good a routing. Then PremY on a good routing but a day off our desired travel.

Finally, this morning biz seats opened up on an OK routing and correct day. 🥳🛏️✈️

Cities are for people, not for cars. Seoul’s Cheonggyecheon may be the world’s best example of that.

There’s no demographic more afraid of its own collective shadow than middle-aged white upper middle class from Nassau County. They have no actual idea what they’re so afraid of and can never articulate it, but they must be able to drive to the epicenter of it (NYC) for free at all times.

Rick Cotton is stepping down from the Port Authority. We need to pressure Hochul to appoint someone who cares about transit.

Spotted a NYC subway themed photo booth place in Seoul and had to know what it looked like.

Big “we have R train at home” vibes

Neon signs aren’t extinct just yet! Not in Seoul at least.

I am at the same time impressed at the simultaneous forced messaging of the South Koreans alert system (even to foreign devices!) and also annoyed at the low stakes of this alert.

I am doing things other than riding trains in Seoul. With that said, trains…

Good morning and welcome on board Korean Air flight KE82, with slightly delayed nonstop service from JFK to ICN.

We got one of Korean’s few remaining Airbus A380 today, the 12 year old HL7621. It’s going to be a lonngg flight in economy. But the seats are roomy and I’ve got a standard def tail cam

MetroCard mentioned in the Oval Office
Trump's being remarkably cordial with Mamdani. Asked about Mamdani's accusation that he's a "despot," he says: "I've been called much worse than a despot, so it's not that insulting."

"A lot of my voters actually voted for him and I'm okay with that," he also says.

If you get marketing from Chase to use The Shops at Chase, don’t do it unless there’s a significant discount and you don’t care that it takes 12 days to get to you.

What an unserious level of competition when Amazon is out there doing same day delivery.

Anyone been to South Korea recently and can tell me if there's any benefit to paying for the K-ETA?

I'd like to avoid the $8 fee, but if it saves time on arrival I'd do it.

Airport signs are undergoing an evolution, or is it revolution?

Out are solely static signs that, while they move travelers from point A to B, have little to no dynamism. In are a new mix of static and digital displays that do everything the old signs did and more. #airportarchitecture

Travelers can learn a lot from the new crop of airport signs
