This is incredibly poor reporting, which appears in the article as well as the headline. If it's "based on appearance" it is not only going to affect trans people now, is it?! "Trans people could be barred from services based on appearance" www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Bridget Phillipson: We will take time to get trans guidance right
The new code of practice on access to single-sex services cannot gain legal force until it gets sign-off from ministers.

this has been commented a million times but i can't help but reaffirm it. the entire proposition that traditional education deserves to be liquidated in the face of this fails to answer with any theory of actual pedagogy, let alone the phenomenon of "achieving the process of learning in the pupil"

"The idea of deporting people with settled status is disgusting, and anyone proposing it should be immediately drummed out of polite society. Breaking promises made in good faith to our friends and neighbours is racist, extremist and immoral."

I'm basically shouting at the sky here, but still.
It’s racist, it’s extremist and it’s immoral
The right is still calling for deportations, and the government is still being cowardly about it. Also: London’s first green belt; some notes on a shark; and some news, on my next book.

"any form of social protection (including housing)" ah well it's been nice knowing you all
The Conservatives have drafted the legislation.

ANY one of the conditions being met leads to ILR being revoked.

If annual income falls below £38,700 for six months (for any reason at all)

The Secretary of State would also have the powers add whatever further conditions they want.

The UK government's commitment to science and research is of course evidenced by its ... cancellation of future Tier-1 high performance computing provision and its ... reduction of the national research and innovation budget.

We have heard that the Green Party has passed a motion at conference calling for desegregation of trans healthcare and to end the practice of GICs and to move it to primary care.

And you can definitely see why they voted for it here:

Revealed waiting times of all GICs in UK: Most Trans+ people in the UK will wait more than a third of their adult life to get an appointment, and some will never receive care

Just counter Reform by offering citizenship freely to anyone with ILR. Anything to shift the narrative. And, you know, inspire the silent majority.
I'll have more to say on Reform's proposals to scrap ILR at some point but for now I'll just note this - anyone telling you this is a popular idea doesn't know the polling. Overwhelming majority of public back giving people who work and pay taxes most or all rights after 5 years or less
