Thread. My daughter, diagnosed with dysgraphia and ADHD in her teens, got a first in archaeology and a masters degree. Support and personal effort, a winning combination.

I could hyperfocus during revision and exams. My daughter’s diagnosis led to me understanding the way my own brain functions.
A lot of education discourse is at root an inability to decide whether the purpose of our education system is to 1) teach material and measure learning 2) reward students who work hard 3) separate the smart kids (destined for smart guy jobs) from the dumb kids (destined to serve the smart guys)

So I try not to give too many gory details about life with long covid, but I also think it’s important to give a clear picture of what can happen to anyone.

Over the last yearish, I’ve become allergic to more than 70 foods. Today I lost soy. I’m not how long I can keep eating at all.

We cannot let the myth of American exceptionalism numb us into imagining we are above devolving into inhumanity.

We have every ingredient in place to become something historically monstrous.

There's a fascinating epistemological difference between how Jewish people relate to the Torah and how Christian people relate to the Bible.

From the Council of Nicaea forward, Christianity had bound itself to a literate tradition - by which I mean that they view knowledge as closed, not open. 🧵

The country identified 21 deaths out of 44 million vaccinees.
