It is a sad state of affairs that a Harvard infectious disease physician has to waste his time debunking the stupid and cruel conspiracy theories emanating from our top healthcare leaders.

Lack of nuance has been a problem with public-health messaging since the start of the coronavirus pandemic—and now the insistence that no evidence exists for vaccine-related deaths risks adding to the crisis, @mazer.us argues. bit.ly/3YgOpQz

It wouldn’t surprise me if some of these purported deaths were, in fact, caused by the covid vaccine—we know the shots can cause death extremely rarely.

But let’s not forget how Vinay talked about childrens’ deaths due to Covid. Denominators do matter.

Imagine sitting in the NIH, contemplating the arrival of a disease like HIV, which has killed 700,000 Americans, and advising the country that “the best pandemic preparedness playbook for the United States is making America healthy again.”

Let me get this straight. We shouldn’t be enriching private insurance companies. But we also shouldn’t be providing more government-run health insurance.

Looking forward to hearing about this mysterious third option for getting people coverage.
