I went shopping at Target yesterday for the first time in a long time. And it was an unpleasant experience. Half the things I needed were locked up, and the selection was terrible. No option to have a cashier check you out. I won't be going back. it turns out the drive is worth it.

I would be surprised if you don't see some performative "antitrust" action by Trump's FCC and DOJ to try and redirect Warner Brothers to Larry Ellison and CBS/Paramount
It’s Official: Netflix to Acquire Warner Bros. in Deal Valued at $82.7 Billion
The streaming giant's proposal includes a $5.8 billion breakup fee and promises to maintain Warner Bros. current operations, "including theatrical releases." Theater owners are already speaking out.

“What’s your plan for the Court?” is the only question that matters for 2028 Democratic hopefuls, because if they don’t, the Republican Super Legislature is hatcheting their agenda before it can get off the ground.
#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three democratic appointees, #SCOTUS puts Texas's new House maps back into effect for (and, presumably, through) the 2026 midterms.

The three Democratic appointees, in an opinion by Justice Kagan, dissent.

I'll post the ruling shortly.

It’s gotten difficult to link to sources in 2025 because so many of them are paywalled - and still failing because normies can’t afford subs to every news site.

The free sites are overwhelmingly right wing propaganda sites, funded by billionaires with very deep pockets. Seems like a problem.

Today I managed to trap myself in the bathroom by forgetting that I'd taken the doorknobs off to paint. Fortunately I was able to call my husband to open the door by inserting one side of the knob. Talk about my being a dumbass.

Today I will be roasting a chicken and some potatoes. Throw in some green beans with bacon. Maybe some roasted carrots. Again trying to make Claire Saffitz's carrot and pecan cake. Yesterday I overfilled the pans and the middle wouldn't bake. Plus home made rolls. Is this too much food? Yes it is.

I have found holidays very different since both my parents have passed. My Dad in 2001 and my Mom in 2017. And a couple of siblings have passed as well. We've made our own traditions and the lack of traveling, etc are actually really nice.

This for me summed up a lot of what I've been feeling about the 24 election and politics in general.
New piece.

A long deep dive piece into the reasons beyond the punditry and headlines as to why Harris and Democrats as a whole failed in 2024.

I firmly believe this is about far more existential, psychological, and structural reasons than it has been depicted as. Here’s why.
The Deeper Reasons Democrats Lost
It wasn't just that Trump got more votes. It wasn't just that Harris had lower turnout. A deep dive into the psychological, existential, and systemic reasons Harris and Democrats didn't win in 2024.
