👋Hello, to my new followers!
So glad we’re all here together. I’m a law professor who works on the intersection of corporate law and election law. I write about corruption. If you have a podcast I’d love to talk about my new book 📖 Corporatocracy. 🥰https://nyupress.org/9781479828326/corporatocracy/
I learned about this 👇🏾 when I was 18 and I was interning at a title insurance company. I sat through a presentation about what mortgage interest rates mean and I was flummoxed that most people pay twice the sticker price or more for their home after compounded interest. #compound #interest
Every U.S. consumer, please pretty please educate yourself about compounding interest. 💵💳🚙
“Hear me out, 15-year car loans.. Americans pay $300 less each month on a $50,000 car but over the 15 years we make an extra $20,000 each.”

There were already 50 year mortgages in places like San Francisco. It means the house “buyers” never actually own the house. You’re just renting from the bank instead from a landlord. Think twice before you do this to yourself. In some markets there is little choice. But in many walk away. 🏠💸

Friendly reminder a president has no power to pardon state crimes. That power is held by a state’s governor. 📜⚖️

For coming from a party that loves to crow about supporting small business, Trump’s cuts to the ACA are the biggest attack on small business people imaginable

Two possibilities neither one is good:
1. He has awful lawyers around him who mistakenly told him he can pardon state crimes (spoiler he can’t) or
2. He is trying to unconstitutionally pardon criminal codefendants in the Georgia criminal case.
⚖️‼️
Trump’s pardon attorney Ed Martin claims Trump is pardoning his Georgia co-defendants and other “alternate electors.”

Note: Trump’s Georgia co-defendants are charged under state law. The president can’t pardon people for state crimes.

Weird that Schumer & Mamdani are from the same place. Maybe the difference is Schumer is 74 and Mamdani is 40 years younger and has his whole life in front of him.
