One thing I want to break free from is the truly silly idea that I'm somehow smarter than people I disagree with. There are people who disagree with me about religion who are much smarter than I am. There are people who disagree with me about politics who are smarter than I am. I am an atheist,

Elon’s power is that he offers a positive vision of the future. This attracts employees, funding, support. There’s a massive techno positive hole and he fills it.

Oh. Vox is Jim Jones. This should have been more obvious to me.

I've been thinking this way for a while. The American system is distinctly cruel and evil beyond words. This particular system should be abolished. Yet we will always have to restrain certain people from causing harm.
I have of late started identifying as an American prison abolitionist. Our specific prisons need to be abolished. That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be replaced with like, Norwegian prisons.

Still not over how hard these lyrics go

I LOVE the implication of what angels are in this universe! "A living aspect of the infinite"? Is that real?
Then again, I suppose it's just a cover of Lucifer's song, isn't it?

You know it's a real shame this song and dance didn't work on Vox, given these lyrics are fucking awesome too.

Here's Another:

While I think the concept of cultural appropriation can be taken dumb extremes, it's really a meaningful concept when talking about stealing from closed religions. There are no Christian "Seders" or Christian "Hannukah." Just stop. It's perverse and artistically bankrupt.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

There's plenty for me to choose from, seeing as I'm an open borders kinda lib. Still, I think my most *woke* opinion is that we should give the national parks back to the Indigenous peoples and return all the artifacts we stole for our museums.

PORN IS ART, PORN IS GOOD, PEOPLE MAKING PORN IS A SIGN OF A HEALTHY SOCIETY
There has been a noticeable reticence in left and liberal circles to voice full-throated support for pornography, even as it's become increasingly clear what the open end goals of the censorship movement are
In a lot of ways other leftists chose this path folks. They shrugged and didn’t care when Patreon banned a ton of hypnosis and TF creators, or when YouTube started their ASMR crackdown. Now it’s coming for queer porn creators, more and more. Who will stand up?

This has gotten lost: Abigail Spanberger won big after vowing to RESCIND Glenn Youngkin's executive order directing local cooperation with ICE and voting AGAINST the anti-immigrant Laken Riley Act. Yet she gained bigly with working class.

A fun thing about the Biblical flood story is that most every culture that lived anywhere near an ocean 10,000 years ago has a flood story; they're clearly all cultural memories of sea level rise in the wake of the melting of the Wisconsin glaciation; and credulous rubes ignore how cool that is.
The Today Show is currently giving a credulous report on researchers maybe "discovering" Noah's Ark. Like, the one from the Bible. A breathless, big-if-true report in which the principle "researcher" is quoting Genesis and the reporter is acting like the biblical flood story is a factual account.
