Today the Irish Examiner published my piece about the hellscape of platform manipulation and spam that is the modern web. In it, I highlighted that such actions materially benefit Twitter.

Now, for the first time in 14 years, I've been suspended by Twitter. For "platform manipulation and spam".

Somehow people are still confused by the idea that cats are not dogs. They're two different animals. They work differently. Cats are also not fish, rocks, lamps, deer, trees, shoes, cabbages, pens, or anything else. They're cats. Hope that clears things up. www.livescience.com/animals/cats...
Do cats really hate us?
Scientific research on how cats view us is mixed, but one thing is clear — they don't adore us the way dogs do.

I've always loved portulaca flowers. Another underrated ornamental, and one that rewards a gardener who diligently trims the stalks and replants them. They'll likely survive our warming planet - at least in some areas.

The worst part is that Weir created the cat show as way to appreciate cats and improve their welfare. He was so disappointed when it was pretty much immediately dominated by snobbery and was more about the owners' prizes than the cats. He'd be crushed to see what breeding has done to cats today. 😢

This is "The Swing" by Harrison Weir. Weir has been overshadowed by Louis Wain in discussions of Victorian cat history, which is really sad because it was Weir who kicked everything off by organizing the first cat show. harrisonweir.com/product/1871...

An open secret of the pharmaceutical industry is that the bulk of their "innovation" is trivial—they're mostly generating analogues to evade patents—and the real breakthroughs are always mostly/entirely government initiated and funded, then handed to private companies for rent-seeking.
NEW from me: The NIH offered an exclusive patent for a cancer drug it invented, potentially worth billions, to a recently chartered company with no website or SEC filings, staffed by a former NIH employee who worked on the treatment while in government.

Unclench your jaw

Let your shoulders drop

Liquefy all your connective tissue for the nutrients

Slither bonelessly off your chair

Wick yourself up the walls through capillary action

Envelop the room

Become a new god

It's freaking BEAUTIFUL.
