I will probably always adore "O Come All Ye Faithful" and "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" for Christian.

Bel Canto & The Kite Runner helped me re-learn how to read novels, after college killed my childhood spark.
Then just before COVID, Evvie Drake Starts Over re-taught me how to read FOR FUN. My book total in 2020 was almost triple 2019, and this book (+ discovering the Libby app!) kickstarted that.

i want to repeat this: mamdani and spanberger have run similar campaigns tailored to their respective electorates and it is maddening to watch political journalists attempt to create some broad contrast where none exist

![Can you put into words what that purpose is? You and the frog have really become icons of this protest.
There’s been a nice overall whimsy that has shown up. The frog is amazing. We had a bunch of other inflatable people here last night, too. I saw people playing Twister the other day.
What they rely on is fear. So by coming out in an absurdist manner, it speaks to them, to some extent, that we’re actually not that afraid.
It also dismantles their narrative a little bit. When they try to describe this situation as “war-torn,” it becomes much harder to take them seriously when they have to post a video saying [U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security] Kristi Noem is up on the balcony staring over the Antifa Army and it’s, like, eight journalists and five protesters and one of them is in a chicken suit.](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:lzlqyldh7nfc34pfffvd24ko/bafkreiap6asa64jdjb2vlv4c2sdritjrntsibvsv7baj6o4cgwcfgsjeny@jpeg)

But I see so many Picasso mentions, which I think is mostly about the cultural hive mind lumping him in w/ other "museum" artists (Van Gogh, Vermeer, da Vinci) even though they're all WILDLY different eras.

Even though these young Reds were not as talented as the Dodgers, they did not give up. You can see why they were able to earn that final playoff spot when other more experienced teams dogged it and fell flat on their faces.
