We have home Internet again after 12 days: just as I was getting used to going to sleep at a reasonable time of night and not doomscrolling half the day. It was a bit shocking how much of my brain is normally filled with internet.

I asked my older son to pick up some baking powder at the bulk store for me. He brought me 1.7 kg of baking powder. “A little more expensive than I expected, but still funny,” he said.
It *was* funny; definitely ridiculous. And I won’t need baking powder again for another 5 years.

It’s actually pretty easy to beat Isaac Chotiner if you know what to do (wait until he completes his third attack sequence, roll behind him, use Flame Dart until you’re out of mana, hide under the gargoyle head until his Rage Wing Spin finishes, stun him with a Sylvan Dagger, equip the Thallslayer w

Recent experiences have reminded me, forcefully, of the importance of personal networks (close and weak ties, both) during periods of long illness, regardless of ultimate outcome. This story does as well, in a powerful way.

At least 50 cm of snow has fallen in my neighbourhood today, and it’s not done yet. We have three extra kids staying at our house tonight, because snowstorms don’t stop Magic games from happening, but they do stop players from going home afterwards. I think I have enough storm chips.
