What's come as a shock - to a lot of Irish ppl - in recent yrs is the realisation that we were never looking at 'wild' Irish landscapes but denuded deserts.
I won't lie: after 3 weeks of experiencing almost unimaginably abundant and diverse Costa Rican nature, returning home to the Irish ecological moonscape is a visceral gut punch.
But what Costa Rica shows is that it doesn't have to stay like this: nature CAN return.
