This highlights the way in which “moderate pragmatic centrism” is a performance, a signaling exercise.

These people signal to their peers how smart they are by refusing to support good things and failing to oppose awful things.

“Look at me! Self-consciously not fighting! A good little moderate.”
This exchange drives me nuts. Neither the interviewer nor Bazelon acknowledges that 1) abortion rights are really popular! and 2) what ICE is doing is hugely unpopular!

some significant part of this is just catch-all fear for “this is not the child I ordered” I think
Oh, here's a big surprise. The transphobes don't believe in ADHD either.
then, the transphobes , feeling victorious at how many people they have made unhappy and despairing in the previous week, move on to anything else that has a spectrum and the possibility of more colours than they can conceive - such hateful people - they cannot understand anything that is not THEM

For some reason Democratic leaders seem to prefer telling voters what they won’t be able to do, rather than what they’d like to do.

If Hegseth ordered a war crime and lied about it, shouldn’t Ds try for impeachment? Put Rs on the spot. They might get a few defections.

Jeffries says not to expect Democrats to pursue Hegseth impeachment over boat strikes
"Republicans will never allow articles of impeachment to be brought to the floor," he said.

Apparently the thing it takes for Matt Yglesias to defend a DSA-style candidate who talks about oligarchy and M4A was for that candidate to reveal a secret connection with National Socialism, which, uh, maybe it's time to do some really deep reflection on how in-group posturing has baked your gourd

This weekend marked the anniversary of his passing. He will forever remain one of my political heroes. Thinking of him always.

Today, I'm thinking of Paul, Sheila, Marcia, Mary, Tom and Will. They were taken from us much too soon. We honor their memories by continuing to organize every day.

Paul believed that when we all do better, we all do better.

So today, stand up and keep fighting. 💚

THE DAY OF THE COMPLETE AND TOTAL BULLDOZING OF THE PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP BALLROOM.

Here’s what is going to happen:
1. Trump will start working out of the ballroom area, like in Mar-a-Lago (he doesn’t do real work anyway)
2. He claims the West Wing is lopsided and needs to be replaced
3. He knocks down the West Wing too
4. Goes after White House itself
5. Presidential palace
