if you’d like a vision of tomorrow look to puerto rico today. PR has no real democracy, looted by wall street, constant privatizations & union busting, declining public services, its own version of tariffs in the form of the Jones Act, and even has silicon valley wizard pedophiles running amok.
this is accurate. additionally theater was the only place gay kids could be themselves in my conservative hometown so i’ve always side eyed the hate.

actually the smartest observation that is likely true, though i forget the account that posted, is that the Senate probably views this as a masterstroke of getting the House back in session by throwing the ball back to the House. also explains why the House Dems are so pissed off.

issue was yuppies fallling for an aesthetic rather than any actual evidence of progressive politics. they see a slob and think “oh shit this must be a working class person”. says more about his initial supporters than him tbh.
i think an especially depressing part of this whole saga is that "we need to win primaries so establishment dems are replaced by true progressives" is a thing we've done before but one of the progressives we worked hard to install over the establishment pick was fetterman
