there is more resistance during the second trump term than there was in the first term but the difference is that, like vichy france, the upper classes & media are much more eager to collaborate so news is suppressed.
seeing discourses today about “left antisemitism” and “left needs to think about AI” and the common thread is that The Left is defined as the childish, wrong, naive, hateful position from the outset. how curious that it’s always framed in that way. almost like progressives & liberals need it be so.

I'd like to posit a carveout for the subtle distinction between "dooming" and "being a left-Augustinian"

starting to feel like there's a direct relationship between the growing obsession with lifestyle hygeine (no drinking, no caffeine, no sex, obsessive working out and looksmaxxing) and the inability to meaningful moral stands on issues of actual import
Cafes across the U.S. are embracing the low- and no-caffeine lifestyle, with options that are a far cry from dusty tea bags and rewarmed decaf. nyti.ms/3XKlqoj

statehood is right wing MAGA politics. it just is. scream and cry all you want but forcing puerto rico to become a state isn’t gonna fix the usa’s manifold problems. perhaps americans should fix it themselves instead of passing the responsibility elsewhere?
February 10, 2026 at 11:59 AM
don’t really care for this solidifying opinion that “puerto rico must be a state”. well meaning americans don’t even know the politics of the present governor FROM the statehood party. she’s MAGA. yes, they have those in PR.

whenever i need a dogshit opinion spoken with unearned confidence i just log onto liberal currents.
February 10, 2026 at 11:57 AM
silly bad faith question but typical of a MAGA true believer.

no need for tortured interpretations to fit the liberal politics of the day. homie walked around with a light blue flag, ricky martin sang his song about hawaii, he said “God bless america” and named every country in the americas. it’s not deep at all lol

i can’t get over the idea that bad bunny is subtle. he’s not man he’s never been subtle lmao
February 9, 2026 at 12:07 PM
since i can almost guarantee you they have no understanding of the politics of the island itself, the actual purpose of the referendums, or the history of the repression of all independentisa movements.
February 9, 2026 at 10:19 AM
i tried to find the posts but either i’m blocked or i blocked whoever you were talking to. if it’s a liberal who isn’t interested in an actual dialogue troll them with “oh, i didn’t know you’re MAGA. you must be since statehood is MAGA politics” and double-triple down.

bad bunny is one of the least subtle artists there is no subtext everything is right there

After his Grammys performance, lots of people were up in arms about whether Bad Bunny saying "we're all Americans" was a sign that he was making a nod towards PR statehood (unlikely) or whether he was saying it in a pan-american way. It was clear then what he meant, and it should be even clearer now

let me hop on this wave and recommend some good books on Puerto Rican history for people that feel inspired by Bad Bunny to learn about us, our history, and our culture
