I hope someone draws this wonderful story about Tom Stoppard's Arcadia and the power of the arts to help us see things differently, to the attention of our Education Secretary. Do read it, it will lift your spirits.

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day!!!

We are sorry we stole your land, murdered & raped your ancestors, then blamed you for wanting to exist in peace.

Please forgive us.

"One of the reasons the epidemic of violence against women is so unacknowledged is because cases like these are talked about individually, and often treated as though they are shocking aberrations rather than part of a pervasive pattern that operates at all levels of society."

A lot of folks in my comments truly don’t seem to understand how evidence is maintained for court proceedings these days.

It’s virtually impossible to ever completely destroy or disappear evidence.

It lives on thousands of back up tapes and servers.

Nothing is gone forever.

This is an absolutely critical read. Truly urge everyone to take ten minutes and read this. It adds so much context to where we are now, with strategy and vision for how and why we must not give up hope.

Why am I squeezing in a conference before I go on medical leave? Because it's my favorite conference of the year. These are the people I want to be with when so many things are going wrong. For those of you who aren't at @socialismconference.org, here are some remarks I shared today.

Concentration camps with no privacy, guarded by the military, in terrible climate, on indigenous lands. This happened to Japanese Americans. And of course indigenous peoples were “removed” to reservations, that is to say, camps. This is who we always have been as a country.

That one person can drag us into a war without consulting or even notifying Congress, or our allies, or fully explaining to the American people why this is necessary, is absolutely bonkers.

Reminder that Congress has the power to stop all of this. Where the hell are they? Hello?

You don't hold a military parade to intimidate other countries. You hold a military parade to impress the people who are supporters and intimidate the people who are the opposition.

You also hold a military parade to overcompensate for the fact that a lot of your own people hate you.
