Trump didn’t need a discharge petition to release the MLK Jr., JFK, or Earhart files.

So why are the Epstein files the one set he refuses to touch?

NEW: The White House intervened on behalf of accused sex trafficker Andrew Tate during a federal investigation.

“It was so offensive to what we’re all here to do, to uphold the law and protect the American people,” one official involved said.

Federal authorities were chided for seizing electronic devices from Tate and his brother, and told to return them, records and interviews show. Experts said the intervention was highly inappropriate.

House demands Epstein financial records from J.P. Morgan, Deutsche Bank and US Virgin Islands
House demands Epstein financial records from J.P. Morgan, Deutsche Bank and US Virgin Islands
Republicans are pushing ahead with an investigation into the activities of Jeffrey Epstein — even as legislation forcing the release of all Department of Justice files on the late sex offender appears to be heading to President Donald Trump for a signature. The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform issued a series of subpoenas Tuesday for some of Epstein’s financial records. Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chairman of the committee, issued subpoenas to J.P. Morgan Chase and Deutsche Bank and requested additional documents from U.S. Virgin Islands Attorney General Gordon Rhea. According to the subpoenas, J.P. Morgan Chase began an internal investigation into accounts previously held by Epstein, flagging some 4,700 transactions as “suspicious” in the process. Epstein also held accounts at and banked with Deutsche Bank from 2013 until potentially late 2018, the subpoenas state. The letter to Rhea comes after documents released last week reveal that Del. Stacey Plaskett consulted with Epsteinduring a 2019 hearing with President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Michael Cohen. Epstein previously owned the islands of Little St. James and Great St. James. The House on Tuesday will vote to censure Plaskett and remove her from the House Intelligence Committee. “The records sought by this subpoena will assist in the Committee’s oversight of the federal government’s enforcement of sex trafficking laws generally and specifically its handling of the investigation and prosecution of Mr. Jeffrey Epstein and Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell,” the subpoenas to the banks read. The subpoenas were announced just after the House and Senate voted overwhelmingly to force the Justice Department to release more information about the case it built against Epstein.

If Donald Trump wants to release the Epstein files, he could just release them, instead of green-lighting the House resolution.

And it's not as if he cares whether he has statutory authority to do a lot of what he's been doing.

But he needs a law for this?

Seeing “the bill only authorizes the release of unclassified material” but wouldn’t that raise the question why anything pertaining to a sex trafficker would be classified?

Pay attention to how Mike Johnson is trying to shift the narrative today - he’s saying some Epstein files can’t be released because they’re intelligence products and would harm national security.

In recent months, the Justice Department has filed charges under 18 USC 111 against more than a hundred immigrants, anti-ICE protestors, and random passers-by—accusing them of "assaulting, resisting, or impeding" federal officers
The Administration’s Favorite Statute
Federal prosecutors have charged more than 100 people with Section 111 violations. Was their crime anything more than opposing Trump’s immigration policies?

Trump’s White House leaned on DHS to help accused sex trafficker Andrew Tate get his seized devices back. A Trump aide who once joked about having a “Nazi streak” pressed agents to hand evidence to an alleged predator. This isn’t law and order — it’s the sexual predator protection program.

"The forces of illiberalism are gaining strength throughout the world and have a powerful ally in Donald Trump, who represents a real threat to democracy."
