Curious about what in the self-loathing is going on with Usha Vance to be married to a man who so openly seems to resent that she isn’t white. She’s where she wants to be but I sure want to know what pathology allows that.

Something that the national GOP apparatus exported from Texas is the desire for everything to feel like high school for as long as possible, and they really don't know how weird that looks to parts of the country with even basic emotional maturity

I remember watching Jake Paul fight Tyson immediately after the election in 2024 and thinking an inability to laugh Paul out of the ring was a great example of the rot in America that led to Trump coming back, it was good to see Anthony Joshua do that. It felt like the culture starting to shift back

A story I found about Haiti:

In 1999, a group of Haitians were tired of political disorder and dreamed of a better life in the United States. So they built a small, 23-foot boat by hand using pine trees, scrap wood, and used nails. They called the boat "Believe in God."

You can measure the quality of news outlets' political coverage by how often they write headlines starting with the words "Trump says" that don't show any skepticism about what Trump is saying even though he's the most prominent American liar of modern times.

Wow. Amid horrific news of a shooting at Bondi Beach, this looks like a truly astonishing act of courage.
Video, I believe recorded off of local TV, of a bystander disarming one of the two killers.

I think part of What's Going On with billionaires is that the daily friction of interacting with normal people is part of what anchors people to the real world, and once you have enough money to buy your way out of the friction you can knock down a load-bearing column propping up your sanity.

"The logical end point of AI progress is feudalism for 99.9 percent of humanity, so vote for me and we'll eliminate the billionaire class responsible for it" is a political platform I will vote for, if offered.
AI threatens to liberate the rich from their age-old dependence on ordinary people's labor -- thereby entrenching a permanent oligarchy.
