I’ve had at least two Ruby crowned kinglets visiting my suet feeders all winter. I make my own “suet” blocks with coconut oil, peanut butter as a base, then sunflower seeds, mealworm, whatever I’ve got, mixed in.

Trump's funding cuts are putting Oregonians in the literal line of fire. Wildfire prevention and mitigation groups across the West are having to lay off staff and close doors just ahead of fire season, all so Republicans can give another tax handout to Elon Musk.
States are scrambling to make contingency plans for what’s expected to be a severe 2025 wildfire season after USFS cuts and wildfire risk reduction grant freezes.

This is one reason why I choose organic vegetables. So that farm workers don’t have to be drenched in insecticides, herbicides etc.
In the old days, miners would carry birds with them to warn against poison gas. Hopefully, the birds would die before the miners.

For anyone wondering, some possible dog names have survived from cuneiform sources.
On tiny dog figurines found buried under a palace in Nineveh, Iraq are inscriptions that seem to be names.
dan rigiššu “loud is his bark”
munaššiku gārîšu “biter of his foe”
mušēṣi lemnūti “expeller of evil”

The trump administration is a chaos monkey.
To sum it up, the president ordered water released for fires in LA with water that doesn’t reach LA, at volumes that could cause communities to flood, and in the wrong season for irrigating crops, which will then mean less water for irrigating crops in the summer when it’s actually needed.
"This is the wrong time of year to be releasing water from reservoirs...This is going to hurt farmers," Vink said. “This takes water out of their summer irrigation portfolio.”

Those roles have been inadequately supported for a long time and it will get dramatically worse now.
The reduction in inspectors in mining and drilling, food production, waste management and commercial rail traffic have all had serious and long-lasting consequences for the health of our fellow Americans and for our shared environment.
