Fascism runs on earning the narcissistic love of the bottom 1/3 of the country morally because it's made of people who think and act like them, i.e. stupid scumbags. It benefits from the middle 1/3's ignorance and apathy, and the top 1/3's living in denial that the "other side" really is just scum.
