The older I get, the more my politics mature from childish, naïve beliefs like "the world is complicated and leaders have to make hard decisions" to more serious, adult principles like "hurting people is bad and helping people is good."

Finally logged on X for the first time in a year yesterday to deactivate my account. Good riddance.
You can’t “fix” X, The Everything App by going back and posting there because the owner has this thumb on the scale of the algorithm to promote the worst ideas and people. It’s not a viable solution, you have to let it go.
Dear Bluesky liberals. Come back to Twitter. Please. PLEASE.

Tacoma leaders are considering whether or not to roll back eviction bans for affordable housing providers. Local landlords have asked the City Council for more freedom to remove people who are causing problems. But renter advocates say officials are moving to change these protections too quickly.

I still have a gmail account but long ago relegated it to 'professional' use only: job hunt, professional orgs, volunteer groups... I only check it when I have to, basically.

And I already disliked the interface but this tears it. Total enshittification.

Faint northern lights a few minutes ago from Tukwila, WA. Not bright enough yet to be visible to my eye, especially surrounded by city lights. Best chances of brighter aurora looks like 7 to 10 pm tonight, if the clouds don’t come in too fast. #NorthernLights #WAWX

Washington, there's literally no excuse to not vote. We vote by mail or dropbox (use a dropbox since you waited til the last minute).

Black voters in the South often have to stand in line for hours to do what you can do in your slippers.

Get your life together and send off that damn ballot.

Come on, like Americans would ever start a revolution over tariffs on caffeinated beverages.
Tariffs have rapidly increased the price of coffee—a drink with almost no nutritional value and lots of functional substitutes. Yet coffee may also be the one thing Americans can’t live without, @elcush.bsky.social writes:
The Drink That Americans Won’t Give Up Without a Fight
Coffee has almost no nutritional value and lots of substitutes. It’s also, apparently, too important to lose.
