Read the replies — just crazy, income-devouring jumps in what people on the exchanges will pay for health coverage. I do hope Republicans and Dems who have made this possible understand the tsunami of electoral rage that’s about to hit them
My ACA current plan is going from $385/mo to $821/mo.

My intro to noir novels was via the Southern variety, by way of Elmore Leonard.
I hadn't read James Ellroy, nor given him much thought until @jordanharper.bsky.social mentioned him in an interview this summer.
I cracked into "LA Confidential" today and holy hell, I get it! It goes hard as hell.

There was a story in the WSJ last week about a guy from California in his 60s whose ACA premiums are going to jump to $35,000 a year.
Or he can move overseas for six months and a day per year and get travel insurance that also works domestically for $700 per month or $8,400.

One reason Mamdani's message resonates so well is that he discarded the more egg-heady framing of "inequality" and instead hammered "affordability."
People in the US are being boiled alive by soaring costs that far surpass the rate of inflation.

The best coffee I've had in my life:
In like 2007, from some dude with a thermos on a random corner in Cartagena, Colombia—his "tinto"was like twenty-five cents.
Next best, some straight up jet fuel in Saigon last summer. It was 15,000 VND, which is basically a dollar.

Washington, there's literally no excuse to not vote. We vote by mail or dropbox (use a dropbox since you waited til the last minute).
Black voters in the South often have to stand in line for hours to do what you can do in your slippers.
Get your life together and send off that damn ballot.

Seattle has the best CB pairing in the league, the best defensive midfielder, and the best young player in the league deployed next to him.
They also have the best academy to pro pipeline.
So where do they come up short or average and how can they improve those positions?
