I propose replacing it with a new metaphor, "you can't put the juice back in the proprietary Juicero wi-fi enabled cold-pressed juice pack"
Why is it that tech and AI boosters keep saying "you can't put the genie back in the bottle" when making arguments about AI's supposed inevitable dominance? Did they not read the story? The genie does, indeed, go back in the bottle. Maybe we should start there.

Remember:

When Tylenol was poisoned *by an outsider* and killed people, the company recalled all their products & redesigned them.

When Intel’s Pentium had a bug so obscure it affected 1 in _9 billion_ long division calculations, they recalled their chips.

ChatGPT was made deadly *by its team*.
i don’t see how any of the benefits of chatgpt and other consumer-facing LLMs can possibly outweigh their incredible ability to induce suicides
Adam Raine’s life hurtled toward tragedy soon after he began talking with ChatGPT about homework. Analysis of his ChatGPT account shows how the chatbot became a confidant as he planned to end his life.

Blanket censoring the word “gambling” is literally a pro gambling move.

Gambling platforms avoid the word for obvious reasons, so YouTube eliminating its use under the pretense of combating gambling is the best fucking cover a gambling platform could ask for.

It’s pretty disgusting.
YouTube removed another of my anti-videogame gambling videos for being pro-gambling.

What a fucking farce of a website.

Wow! Now to google if Harris did in fact win hmmm-- oh. Oh you're not going to believe this.
It’s good Kamala Harris spent her money campaigning and not doing mutual aid! Generally we need candidates to try to win!
Kamala Harris literally wasted a billion and a half dollars but sure, okay, Kat Abughazaleh's way of doing things is the problem. Okay.

While protesting abortion bans in Texas, tampons were confiscated at security because they were afraid we would throw cotton balls at politicians.

This is not specific to ICE JSYK. When my mother was evicted from our old family home, they helped themselves to our things too. And I hear of people who, when they are taken into police custody, have their personal possessions (ordinary, non-problematic items) lifted from them out of greed.
ICE detain father shopping on Christmas Eve—then steal his family's groceries.

Then 3 agents divvy up his paid for food—taking what they want for themselves.

"Can I just get the wife's number to call and let her know?" woman asks.

"No, guess he should've complied," agent says.
