New paper alert! In the US, people view East Asians as prototypically Asian, especially compared to South Asians. This has implications for representation in #StopAsianHate, and it affects how hate crime reports are evaluated.

I love this, but I’m not loving the weight loss ads that I’m getting when I read the article.

I don’t usually get along with children but last night my friend’s kid alternated between calling me “Auntie Irish” ☘️ and “Auntie Virus” 🦠 which amused me to no end.

Today was not a good art day; the bush I tried to paint in the foreground of the scene ended up looking like broccoli. I was dismayed at first but now I am chuckling. 🤭

Nice people are struggling over the revelations on Gaiman, and something I keep hearing is, 'His work had a big influence on how I shaped my own identity.' So here's something to remember:

You did that. He didn't do it for you. 1/

Look: The thing you need to understand about genAI is that every Next Big SV Thing of the last 15 years—NFTs, Web3, Metaverse, VR—has been utterly rejected by the market and the tech grifters know this is their last chance, no more. That’s why there is an apocalyptic level of capital invested in it.

We're at that stage of capitalism where the pursuit of profit is no longer enough to slake the oligarchs' ravenousness. They have more money than they could spend in a billion lifetimes, so now they want total control. They've hollowed out their souls so thoroughly that domination is their next fix.

I picked up this new Tsuen Wan Walking Map by the HK Tourism Commission today to send to a friend, and one of the recommended sights was the Tsuen Wan Noise Barrier, because it’s-and I quote-“known as the Senbon Torii of Hong Kong”. This made me cringe so hard. Sigh.

This is the best thing I have ever read on social media, ever. I’m cry laughing!
How oblivious to flirting are you? When I was 19-21, I was convinced that the girl that came to my apartment like 3 times a week and usually sat on my lap was just a good pal

THIS IS HUGE! Researchers at Stanford Medicine have devised an influenza vaccine that prompts immunity to ALL four major flu subtypes AND shows potential against bird flu, indicating a significant advancement in flu prevention and a potential increase in vaccine efficacy. Let’s talk about that! 🧪🧵⬇️

Spent last night practically begging friends to view things with nuance and a little critical thinking. In this case it was a discussion about Carter. I’m sure he was a lovely fellow but no one is perfect and certainly no politician should be deified, even in death. 1/

So many Hong Kong drivers turn corners quite fast whilst also not using their blinkers to indicate they’re about to turn. As a pedestrian who is interested in staying alive, this annoys me. Use your blinkers so I know not to step in front of you, people! 😓

When people speak glowingly about Carter their image of him isn’t the 4 years he spent as President.
It’s the 40 years after.
Cynically call it repentance, if you like, but implying that image is hagiographic feels like a reach.

OH, GOOD.

More people calling out the recycled Suppressed Memory/Satanic Panic bullshit known as The Body Keeps the Score.

Let’s do this more. A lot. It’s a trash book that retraumatizes victims, victim blames, and valorizes violence against women and children.

And he’s a sexual harasser.
What the most famous book about trauma gets wrong
People kept telling me to read "The Body Keeps the Score." I was shocked at what it actually says.
