Movie locations buff with emphasis on HK because I've lived here since 2006. Proud member of the "AI Haters" List (thanks to whoever added me).

Ticked off another 'never been there in my 20 years here' today with a visit to Mount Davis.

This is exactly the way the fire investigations will go.
I really hope the Tai Po fire investigations don’t go the same way.
Survivors of one of Hong Kong’s deadliest maritime disasters and victims’ families who spent 13 years in a legal and bureaucratic maze seeking answers will have to wait a little longer for a coroner’s ruling to shed light on the tragedy. In full: hongkongfp.com/2025/12/02/h... Graphic: AFP.

Quick note to anyone thinking of buying my books: please purchase the new Swift Press versions, NOT the relatively small number of Unbound versions still knocking about, & being sold by OOINYA. Unbound stopped paying me for my work early in 2024 and I will never see a penny for these books.

Shocking, and proof if you ever needed it that the best thing you could do, assuming you even have the chance, is to gtfo asap.

Currently finding amusement in the expensive home made tat that people try to hawk at Xmas on Facebook marketplace. Mumsnet has quite the thread.

got a guy who comments a lot on my blog regarding the old houses/mansions that are featured in old films. he's been able to drag up some great info about previous owners etc. Anyway, one curiosity that came of late was where Alexander Fu Sheng's house was.

I give it a couple of weeks before mourning for the Tai Po fire victims is outlawed.

Steps up to Magnolia Road. I couldn't crouch as low as the film camera because I'm too old and it looked way too dodgy to passers-by...

Just wandered through Sham Shui Po and a building undergoing scaffolded repair works had begun removing bundles of green mesh and stacking it in a nearby alleyway 🤔

Construction sites all over the city are hastily removing the safety nets. Just shows you how rampant this corrupt behaviour has been - and how little oversight there is.

Bamboo scaffolding still standing. It was the other stuff.

Hoping Western journalists stop jumping on the bandwagon of blaming the bamboo scaffolding and completely glossing over the negligence of the building developer that the residents themselves have been complaining about. (but you know how it is)

looking forward to watching Jackie beat people up with his zimmer frame.
Best case scenario: Jackie puts in his contract that he’s allowed to spew as much Chinese Party propaganda as possible, the effects of which finally topple the American empire.
‘Rush Hour 4’ is officially in the works.

This comes after Donald Trump personally requested Paramount to revive the franchise.
