I get why most people don't like it, consider it overwrought, etc.
But that movie pierced me in a way nothing has before or since. Seeing it alone in a theater on release on Thanksgiving night was honestly a spiritual experience the likes of which I'll likely never have again.

I once got to talk with John Lithgow when he was coming through town to perform his one-man stage show. At the end of our time, he told me "Stewart, you really are a wonderful interviewer, I must say." I could have floated out of the newsroom after that.
