I get Democrats elected in Lancaster, PA
Pinned
I’m quoted today in the NYT regarding Lancaster County’s 36th State Senate special election. Our candidate is Mayor James Malone. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/21/o...

A focus on bread-and-butter issues, not the culture wars, helped an Iowa Democrat win in a red area. His playbook is now being used in Pennsylvania.

Congratulations to my new Senator and one of the nicest guys on the planet, James Andrew Malone!
Let me be very clear: @maloneforsenate.bsky.social, @stellasexton.bsky.social, and Joyce Stephens get to take a huge victory lap for this. Incredible work and an incredible campaign.
James Malone just flipped a Pennsylvania State Senate district that went for Trump by 15 points last year.

This is what building Democratic power looks like. Congratulations, Senator-elect Malone!

CSPAN Caller from West Virginia: I’m a diabetic and I’m on Medicare. When Biden was in there, my insulin was $6 for a 28 day supply. I just went to CVS, it went back up to $80…

Yes totally cool that a 19-year-old who called his deleted LinkedIn "Big Balls," where he lists his experience working as a camp counselor can access the entire US federal payment system without anyone looking into his background, for instance, his Russian national close relatives or anything else

Lmao so every media outlet on the planet was writing about Biden's decline like 10 times a day, but somehow the swarm of Capitol Hill reporters missed an entire congressperson just not even being there?

That’s my great new state rep!
Today I spent my day exploring the Capitol and now I have my Harrisburg office! It's been an exciting day and excited to begin working to serve HD96!

Raw milk cheeses frequently makes people sick in France. And for the record: raw milk cheeses are legal in the US. Grafton cheddar makes theirs from raw milk. It's raw milk SOFT cheeses that are not. Aging kills the bacteria.
"Raw milk" is genuinely better for artisan cheesemaking and is used for that purpose in many French cheesemakers.

But also the French have very high standards for handling raw milk that we don't, which is why raw milk so frequently makes people extremely sick here.
TIL that one reason raw milk is having a comeback is a lot of people don't know what pasteurization is. They think it's adding "chemicals" not a rapid heat treatment

i'm not super invested in bluesky, it's another social media network, maybe it lasts, maybe it doesn't, but what i'm *extremely* tickled by is the growing chorus of angry elite tastemakers being outraged that their social media influence is being eclipsed by, like, thomas the train's juicy caboose
Step 1: Elon takes over Twitter, unbans and amplifies the worst white nationalist posters, methodically turns it into a right wing echo chamber.

Step 2: Users who aren’t white nationalists or MAGA extremists leave for Bluesky en masse.

Step 3: op-ed columnists fret, “is Bluesky an echo chamber?”

I’m one of the few Dems in NYC who even RUNS a general election campaign, and the only one who ran a robust field op. We ran ahead of top of the ticket.

Excellence matters. A lot of folks w/ poor campaign fundamentals are now blaming “wokism” but haven’t held a town hall or knocked a door all cycle
