there’s a lot that is already being said about Sarah Hurwitz’s wildly illustrative display of cognitive dissonance in this clip, but i’m hung up specifically on how she describes Jews during the Holocaust as “emaciated” and Palestinians in Gaza today as “skinny”
I'm struck by this clip of former Obama speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz saying Holocaust education has backfired in part because people Palestinians as victims: "They think the lesson of the Holocaust is…you fight the big powerful people hurting the weak people."

it is also very important to remember that these are *Republican policies* not *Trump policies*. this is discrediting their entire domestic agenda and not something that should slip into memory when Trump is gone
The important thing to bear in mind as Trump's popularity begins to wobble is that the disastrous economic consequences of the things he's done in the first 10 months of this term have not even *begun* to hit. We've been coasting on the fumes of the economy he inherited and soon they'll be gone.

this is not the way _progressive taxes_ are supposed to work, but conservatives have always believed that people should be punished for being poor, and always resented being taxed more for being rich.
A reminder: Tariffs are a regressive tax. The anti-Robin Hood.
Trump's current tariff settings effectively impose a tax rate on low-income households that's roughly TRIPLE that on high-income folks. That's not the way taxes are supposed to work.

i love seeing headlines from 20 years ago. it's not that capitalism will never learn these lessons, its that it is incapable of learning them
for decades democrats have avoided delivering justice to the people wrecking this country by being squeamish that it might be perceived as uncouth retaliation
Trump will not just be four years of bad management. The culture of these organizations will be fucked for a long time. The pressure to retaliate and clean house will be strong, and no-one wants to work in a war zone.
