Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

This is how the Mail has covered a 70% fall in net migration.

The Government should stop kidding itself it will ever get credit for being anti-migration. They could cut numbers to zero and there would still be front pages blasting them for making the UK a socialist wasteland no one wants to come to

the actual suicide of the West will be combining a rapidly aging population with hostility to migrants. however we must give credit to East Asia, especially Japan, for pioneering this model.

I sort of appreciate the need to keep up with the times but I simply refuse to wear socks with shorts. I cannot bring myself to do it, too many years of firm belief that it is a travesty have made me unable to change. They will take my no-show socks from my cold dead fingers.

You can find ghosts of the original promise of the internet if you post earnestly about a technical topic that you are geniunely interested in, even and especially if you are non-expert. You’d be shocked at how easy it is to become part of actual experts feeds and how freely they share information.

Aside from the frothing racism of these people, what is really grim about this is the idea that government are powerless to change culture. If your constituents think these things *they are wrong* and you need to explain why. It's not actually your job as an MP to rubber stamp fascism.

99% of people crossing the channel in small boats apply for asylum.
About 70%+ receive it.
The manner of entry to seek asylum does not determine if someone is a "genuine refugee".

A thing people don't remember about 2003 is that "they have WMDs" was the pitch to *high-info* voters.

The pitch to low-info voters was "the dastardly muslims attacked us on 9/11 and we have to hit them back by deposing the muslim king saddam hussein who attacked us"

I cannot emphasize enough how needlessly cruel the UK immigration system is to ordinary people who want a family life together and aren't well-off already, and anyone wanting to make it worse should be shunned.

If you have school-age children, push them towards studying French and Negotiation at university. Job for life.
Formally now time to welcome the UK to a Swiss-style relationship of permanent negotiation and multiple deals with the EU.
My initial impressions - probably more balanced than I was expecting with UK clearly prioritising Home Office issues. But less detail - talks on individual issues will be really difficult. There will need to be a strong political layer to maintain progress.
