Texas’ maternal mortality review committee is forbidden by law from reviewing women’s deaths that are considered abortion-related. This could include some miscarriage care, officials told ProPublica.

one reason the US is so mad at insurance companies is not because rationing exists, but because care is often rationed the same way firms ration customer service, by byzantine discouragements that only the most dedicated persist through. even the most dedicated can and often do die from delay.

This is a great piece, by Michelle. Lots of folks don't quite understand how much the prosperity gospel distorts the Christian faith by seeking wealth and power -- along with creating a constellation of Christian celebrities who were like Trump before Trump even came on the scene.
Not only did Latinos shift to Trump, but Latino Christians did moreso. Part of it has to do with a theology that's boomed across Latin America that says God rewards the faithful with health and wealth. Trump for some is clearly blessed

For some Latinos, ‘prosperity gospel’ led them to Trump
The set of beliefs has overtaken traditional theologies centered on the poor. Some experts say that helps explain a shift among Latino Christians to Trump.

The position of every Dem should be that NASA will spend $0 on crewed spaceflight. Flights, training, R&D, all of it. It's a waste, we have a deficit, we should spend on cops, blah blah blah whatever.

Republicans have no choice but to throw money at it now, and will trade to ensure that happens.
Things you won’t see trending in X:
Trump's pick to lead #NASA is Jared Isaacman, friend of Elon #Musk, whose online payment company has extensive financial ties to SpaceX.

If confirmed, Isaacman would oversee billions of dollars in government contracts awarded 2 SpaceX.

Earlier this year, Isaacman became the first private citizen to conduct a spacewalk. But his longstanding ties with Elon Musk's company SpaceX raise possible conflicts of interest.

This whole thread. One of the drums I consistently bang on is the idea that the majority of “civility” requirements is code for “the way we hurt you is polite and therefore allowed and you may not complain; the way you hurt us is rude and boorish and therefore you do not matter.”
It’s so interesting to see these urgent exhortations to reestablish decorum. I have not seen evidence of a “coarsening” of American society. If anything, the opposite: I’ve seen thousands of individuals asserting their humanity and protesting the indignity of the system UHC profits from.
