Labor is the source of all value.
Non-performative philanthropy is the new GOLD.

Mackenzie Scott is absolutely changing the world and the social norms for leadership in giving.

#WomenLead
Billionaire MacKenzie Scott’s historic philanthropic run has contributed more than $700 million to over a dozen historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) this fall.

Oakley is recovering from surgery and just being adorable in our Med Barn. But we have a huge bill to pay for her recent lifesaving surgery and very few donations towards it. It’s rough trying to fundraise for a chicken’s medical care.

Always so hard to get posts seen about chickens too…

“Short bursts indicate an ICE sighting. Long whistles indicate agents making arrests. If you hear the whistle and you’re undocumented, said [Whitney Hu, a community activist and organizer with South Brooklyn Mutual Aid], ‘you hide. And if you’re somebody who’s not, you go to the street.’”
As ICE Street Raids Ramp Up, New Yorkers Stock Up On Whistles
Taking a cue from Chicago, community groups have distributed thousands of whistles in recent weeks — a grassroots system people in other cities have adopted to help neighbors sound the alarm.

Bolstering the 70 would likely also be a critical investment to help spur the housing growth we wish to see in our flagship Inner Eastside for All campaign.

(Unfortunately TriMet's about to propose significant cuts in service due to lack of funding from the state legislature....)
there are so many SE to NE trips that are like 20 minutes faster if you get lucky with the timing of the 70 and can take that instead of transferring downtown. I really think it would do numbers as a frequent service bus

Yesterday, when Bovino announced ICE would be returning to Little Village today, some of us donated and fundraised to buy out street vendors in the neighborhood. This morning, volunteers hit the streets at 6:30 am, looking for vendors to buy out. Tamales make an excellent breakfast.

"Little-known" only if you're not paying close attention to City Hall. Wilson has been at or near the center of almost every major policy battle in the city for the last 10 years.
It's starting to look like a socialist is going to Seattle City Hall

Sure is interesting to me how Portland Police issue a careless driving citation at the scene of a crash when it involves one of their own. I'm always told they can't do this until investigation closes, and in many cases (involving bike riders), police just leave it to insurance to figure out.

This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.
