It’s a sad indictment of Britain’s ignorance of nature that Sycamore Gap petitions - for a tree that mattered to humans but not nature - received tens of thousands of signatures but a petition to protect entire peatland habitats is stuck at 1,500 actnow.peatfreepartnership.org.uk/end-peat-sal...
Sign the petition to end peat sales!
No more delays: Let's get peat out of gardens once and for all. The time for uncertainty has ended.

It bothers me how Carr is still plastered all over TV and isn't some kind of pariah. Channel 4 need to find an alternative to this former oil exec turned "truth teller".

Currently reading @kathyburke.bsky.social’s book and it’s so fucking good. Easily one of my favourite ever memoirs. I know this sounds hyperbolic but books like these are vital to documenting the lives of working class people. They *are* our social history. This just happens to be one of the best.

An existential attack on the BBC from a foreign power should be seen as an attack on the country as a whole.

What a wonderful thread full of creatives, the good will. ❤️
The comments are rich and beautiful. And the work is in so many forms and media. There must be something for everyone.

I'll take another look later when my family are not looking over my shoulder.

This really is something very special.
A great way to fight back against AI taking away work from creatives is to buy art by actual humans.

Ok President Trump, if you sue the BBC for $1bn for spreading lies, I’ll sue you for the same amount. I reckon Planet Earth would crowdfund that. Then I’ll buy Mar A Largo, turn it into a climate change research centre, free Melania, and put a 1000% tariff on orange face paint.

Anybody who had a vision to bring American levels of political, cultural and social polarisation to Britain - whether their motive was clicks or cash, ideology, boredom or anything else - would make it their top strategic priority to abolish the BBC, or to damage and diminish it at the very least
Quick thread on the BBC and the political and societal significance of recent developments:

One of the main reasons the UK has historically been so much less polarised than the US, is that Britain has a shared source of information, consumed and trusted by most people regardless of their politics.

Pollinator numbers dropping is partly due to how much pesticides we use. Even though insects are so small, they have a huge impact and we need to protect them. Join me and tell the UK government to protect our pollinators: act.gp/42Y1Ubx
ACTION: Sign the petition and tell the UK government to protect our pollinators.
The UK’s pollinator numbers are dropping heavily - we need the UK government to step in and protect them.
