Reading some Book of the New Sun before writing some pulpy isekai makes me realize why I both love and loathe the latter genre. It's got potential for deep psychological storytelling, but few of the authors are goated enough to do alzabo-level shenanigans with transmigrator memories.

to put it another way: the kind of multi-user bathroom that doesn't build adequate privacy and safety into its design features in reliance upon gender segregation to make up for it? needs to die a permanent death.
I am increasingly becoming a committed "we have to totally cease segregating bathrooms by gender" partisan, in part because people on the "good side" keep coming up with very cool "solutions" like "let's do enforcement based on gender expression"
Why is this so difficult?
