My partner is VERY smart (History degree, brainy Cambridge job) BUT I’ll never forget when I started reading ‘Game of Thrones’ and she asked how it was and I said, ‘It starts exactly like the TV show’ and she said….

‘What, with the theme tune?’

The skipped beat in the drum sample always drove me mad. Probably my first ADHD indicator, in retrospect.

#totp credit to Robbie Williams as a 1998 masc for getting a number one single and going on in bottom pants and a transparent dress. Fair play to someone I've always assumed was a bi icon. Solidarity, bro. X

#totp the female presenter just mentioned, in this next episode, that Madonna had turned 40 - basically 80 years old in '90s woman years.

#totp Michael Jackson looking all reggedy and goth, yelling "WHAT ABOUT US?" between some trees, at the time, reminded me of the Dream King from the Sandman comics, an obsession I had in 1995 that was one of the structural bits of what became what I thought of as Me. I don't know where to put that.

#totp I am now, over 30 years later, reassessing everything I ever read in music magazines about Madonna. She was good on her own terms all along.

I sometimes wonder if straight-cis-white 15yo me going on all those demos even happened now, because it used to have mattered, and now apparently that entire flag we planted got burned by cowards when we took a breath

#totp I've never noticed how weird and interesting the rhythmic structure of Fairground by Simply Red is. My main memory of that song was being drunk, chatted up by a noncey guy running the waltzers who played it on repeat, and my friend and I laughing about that song as a sort of personal meme.

#totp I've seen a lot of people talking about how good the '90s were, and a lot of people had a lovely time then.

For me, it was terrible.

Been watching 1995 totp and narrating the related horrors to my cat, and telling her that life does get so much better when you get older. It really does.

I have failed to live up to @sliderulesyou.bsky.social's judgment of me as a gay man in a woman's body by refusing to watch Wicked, but I feel more strongly that the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch are avatars rather than 3 dimensional beings than I feel about show-stopping songs and costume design.

Cat and parrot both making noises. I looked at my watch.

Too early.

My Brain: LIKE AN EARL.

Me, now awake: WHAT?!

A thing I learned from the internet: when you buy garlic from the supermarket, stick one bulb, arse-down, in a pot of soil, chop off the top of its head, and it grows a load of edible greens that taste of garlic, and eventually more bulbs.

Didn't Mythbusters do that? i can't remember what the outcome was, or if they were testing it because it was real or a myth. But, I've always "known" it was so they could preserve their nightvision in one eye.
