Hi, neurodivergent queer artist, 21+, finally made one of these after being off Twitter for over a year. Figured I should probably be aware of what’s happening in the world.

12YO girl signed up to do “stand up comedy” at the talent show. 13YO boy decided to heckle her. Teacher started to tell the boy to leave her alone, but the 12YO comedian said “no, no, let him go, this is the closest he’s ever going to get to having a conversation with a girl.”
What's an insult you'll never forget?

OK lemme take a break from being shitty to shitty people and ask you to please consider helping two wonderful humans and their equally wonderful dog.

If that means sharing the post because you aren’t in a position to donate, that’s still generous of you.

I’ve managed to nail down the conditions to replicate this.

If you’re watching a video in full screen and START to swipe the video away to return to the feed but /don’t finish the swipe/, the video returns to full screen and you lose the ability to interact with a Bluesky at all until a force quit.
Weird bug I’ve been dealing with in Bluesky on iOS

sometimes videos will just get stuck in full screen with no way to close them or use the controls, and you have to fully kill the app to make it work normally again.

Has anyone else seen this?

Sad that Costco *has to do this*, but cool that Costco is the kind of company that cares about the majority of it's membership such that *they're openly doing this*, despite it probably making some scalper dweebs incredibly pissy. This is $1.50 hot dog & soda (+ refill) thinking applied writ large.
It is hilariously pathetic that they have to do this because gigantic scalper manbabies wont let kids have fun

Anyone who chooses to remove Glaze from art in order to feed it to AI is saying …

“I am willfully, knowingly , and malicious subverting the intention of the copyright holder in favor of for my personal interests”
For those who don’t know. Glaze in the context of AI is a technique of making art art confusing to AI while making it virtually unchanged to the human eye.

An Artist using Glaze on their work is effectively saying:

“I in no way consent to my copyrighted works being used by AI in any way”
For further context twitter added a button that allows users to generate ai images using existing art posts from artists. It removes glaze and it basically reskins the artwork by using the existing work as a base. Twitter is no longer a safe space for art

I also don't think people are taking into account just how malicious AI proponents can be, and however much we might be angered by games sold to us with undisclosed AI, assets are being sold to developers with undisclosed AI also. This is something being done *TO* developers also!

If you're killing random Jews at a festival in a Australia in the name of anti-zionism, that *is* an attack on Jewish people as a group, because you've decided that Jews and Zionism are synonymous and killing the one is a blow against the other.
So the younger shooter, in a video submitted to the court, claims the shooting was aimed at the Zionist policies of Israel as a state. This is distinct from being an attack against Jewish people as a group. Once again the pro-Zionist coalition and right wing media jumped the gun and got it wrong.

I see there’s a post about microplastics going around with a photo of drinking straws, so here is my semi-regular reminder that the 3 biggest sources of microplastics are tires (45%), synthetic clothing particles (35%) and paint (~10%).
Lay article attached:
One of the biggest microplastic pollution sources isn’t straws or grocery bags – it’s your tires
Every few years, the tires on your car wear thin and need to be replaced. But where does that lost tire material go? The answer, unfortunately, is often waterways, where the tiny microplastic particle...

I knew that historians and social science folks from a wide range of backgrounds and views were appalled at how Erika Chenoweth's stuff was recently taken as gospel, but it wasn't until editing this piece that I learned about their appalling views on armed resistance to the nazis. It's bad, y'all.
We're glad this powerful piece is drawing way more attention to how dubious some of these oft-invoked tropes from Chenoweth's writings are.

For example, most folks taking these at face value probably aren't aware that their views on anti-Nazi resistance amid the Holocaust are...not good.

This photo, file 468, from the Epstein files that includes Donald Trump has apparently now been removed from the DOJ release.

AG Bondi, is this true? What else is being covered up? We need transparency for the American public.
