If a kufiya is religious attire then baguettes are religious food
We were invited to screen Still Playing at Amiens Jail in France as part of the cultural activity

They asked me to take off my Kufiya claming its religious symbol

I explained it’s part of my culture worn by people regardless of their religion

I refused to take it off & the screening was cancelled

When the British appropriated khichdi from India to make kedgeree they went "hm, what if I use smoked fish instead of lentils in this lentil and rice dish"

One of the wildest recipe substitutions. And *then* they added hardboiled eggs and raisins.

Several lines in the image below are highlighted, but the one that jumps out to me isn't: "when you outsource the thinking, you outsource the learning."
7. the kinda appealing, but substantively indefensible, idea that somehow AI is different to other technology, like calculators, in a pedagogical context — but we totally ban a great deal of technology in the classroom.

AI advocates have warned that if every author in the class action filed a claim, it would "financially ruin" the entire industry.
Authors celebrate “historic” settlement coming soon in Anthropic class action

"AI Guardrails" has the same connotation to me as "Clean Coal".

They're not really a thing. They're just the wishful thinking and spin of an industry that's been caught being inherently, unavoidably harmful on a fundamental level.

The Plagiarism Machine must be destroyed.

Heaps of useful/interesting links in this thread.

(but please, read LLM wherever AI is mentioned. Other things under the broad umbrella are actually useful, just not the ones masquerading as therapists or writers or companions!)
cool pincer movement if you truly grasp:

AI & any concept relating to it like so-called guardrails are a scam in the deepest sense like a perpetual motion machine or a quija board — and not only a scam like a pyramid scheme which is a possible way to make money if you are first in first out

When people say that Wuthering Heights doesn't have anything to do with race or that no film has engaged with race, what they mean is that for them Romani people do not count and they also haven't been paying attention. And we knew this. This wasn't speculation. We studied it, we had the talking points. We trained volunteers to explain this to people. It's not a surprise. Rich people don't flee places with good quality of life when we increase the quality of life. They might try to cheat us, but they don't leave.
