I get paid for engineering so I can lose money doing photography. Opinions probably aren't my own but I couldn't tell you precisely where I got them from. Grateful to hug my wife and kids every day.

Photo clipped from a newspaper from back in the 70s showing my mom bottle feeding a lion cub. Basically I'm saying I should be on Dancing With The Stars.

(Editor's note: in no way should he be anywhere near Dancing With The Stars)

Took advantage of a recent foggy night in Seattle to do some street photography and play around with long exposures.

She is a pediatric surgeon who has performed spinal surgeries on children, running against a grownup with no spine. Dr. Andrews is poised to perform a full Lindsey-ectomy on the United States Senate.

I hate having to do this but I’m desperate. I’ve been looking everyday for work but nothing is biting. I’m down $80 and I can’t afford my very needed meds and I definitely can’t afford my home when the first comes next month. I’m drowning in medical debt. Anything helps.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

This perfectly encapsulates how I feel living in the US. The republican party is an insane death cult, the democratic party is 3 corporations in a trench coat, and the "socialists" are just the completely normal left-wing capitalists you'd find in any of 2 dozen European nations.
Europeans recognize Zohran Mamdani’s supposedly radical policies as ‘normal’
Critics of New York City’s mayor-elect have said his pledges of free bus service and universal childcare are unrealistic, but in Europe it’s a given

So let me get this straight: SCOTUS is tacitly endorsing starving people as a bargaining chip so that Republicans can deprive people of healthcare too. Do I have that correct?

All in service of declaring the President to be a king, unbound by the Constitution?

Oh, this is wild.

DOJ went to SCOTUS *before* we got the First Circuit's administrative stay denial. (We know this because DOJ just filed a letter at SCOTUS about the admin stay denial.)

So, DOJ went to SCOTUS b/c the First Circuit did not meet its less-than-seven-hour "deadline" for a ruling.

Right: 'Maryland gerrymandering is an affront to Western civilization!', from today.

The contract is based on stock price. Not profit. Not material progress against climate or efficiency. Just hype. To my mind that's 100% why Musk is publicly speculating about turning all Teslas into a distributed AI data center since that's where all the money in the economy is going right now.
Tesla’s profit fell 37% in the third quarter. It's been in the process of laying off 14,000 workers. It had more cars impacted by recalls than any other brand in 2024.

Yet Elon Musk just got a pay package worth $1 trillion.

American capitalism is off the rails.

Okay, cool, but right now every hyperscaler is looking at tens or hundreds of billions worth of “hole in their balance sheets” if OpenAI can’t pay for the ~$1.4 trillion they’ve committed to.

And those hyperscalers are, y’know. In everyone’s retirement accounts.
