駅のおばさん Update: the less chatty one was sitting in the heated waiting space when I got here. When the chattier one arrived & sat outside, the lady in here made a "wha?" noise. I said "outside, huh?" in Japanese & she laughed & chattered as she gathered her stuff. First time she's spoken to me at all!

In addition to non-related aunts, I also had like 6 "grandma"s growing up. Pretty impressive considering both of my actual, biological grandmas were dead by the time I was 4!

Ngl, one of my favorite things about living in a prefecture without a ton of foreigners is how delighted Japanese people are when I tell them (in Japanese) that I'm 1) from America but 2) live in [our city here].
The lady we just talked to was even delighted to hear I'm 39 and Noel is 41 😂

Yesterday the おばさん I say good morning to at the station pointed out I'd gotten chalk from the railing I was leaning on all over my black pants, then one tried to help me dust it off and kept apologizing every time she touched my butt 😂
