SCOTUS maybe can't be blamed for not predicting exactly this, but the First Amendment was intended to prevent this outcome by heading off its beginning. Its decision upholding the TikTok ban looks worse today than ever -- as @jameeljaffer.bsky.social & I wrote:

Today is about the survivors, justice, and truth.

The Epstein Class has to go.
Tomorrow, my bill will force the Trump Administration to release the Epstein files.

Any person who attempts to conceal or scrub the files will be subject to prosecution under the law.

There's really interesting social science on how white people significantly overestimate the number of people of color in a room or in a picture. A room with, like, 20% POC will be perceived as majority POC.
White men are 30% of the US and if they look around the room and see it’s less than 90% white men they think it’s affirmative action.
85% of CEOs are white men.

All but one US President has been a white man.

65% of all elected offices are held by white men.

Roughly 30% of the population is white men.

WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS TOPIC EVEN???

I cannot emphasize how serious an assault on democracy this is. Any effort by the Trump administration to engage in false claims of fraud or mass voter suppression relies on this as a building block. As importantly, there is no legitimate reason DOJ would want this information.
🚨BREAKING: The Department of Justice (DOJ) sued Georgia, Illinois, Wisconsin and Washington, D.C. Thursday for unfettered access to the states’ voter registration records. The federal government has now filed lawsuits against 21 states, plus D.C.

This is a developing story...

No.

ICE pepper-sprayed this 1-year-old girl.

Once at the hospital, the doctor had to call in a poison control specialist.

They had never seen anyone that young pepper sprayed.

Another horrific story.

1. Bovino's existence is the result of chain migration, which MAGA wants to ban

2. His family arrived legally under an immigration law MAGA wants to repeal

3. His father killed a woman while driving drunk, a crime for which MAGA aims to deport immigrants

And much more. Read it.

I think this is almost certainly what happened.
✏️ Did someone try to explain global supply chains to Trump using the classic “I, Pencil” example?

And was his reaction to say “People don’t need so many pencils?” 😲
I find it fascinating that Trump has once again called for austerity on pencil consumption, given the status of this item as a quotidian miracle of the free market in Leonard Read's 1958 essay, "I, Pencil" and Milton Friedman's "Free to Choose."

WOW; a DEEPLY corrupt move by the immigration courts; clear collaboration with Trump admin officials to produce a specific result with zero notice to the party and ALSO in a situation where the judge facially lacks jurisdiction; the judge had denied a motion to reopen and the case is on appeal.
Judge Xinis ordered Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s release in part bc ICE could not produce a final “order of removal” to deport him. So last night, they went out and got an immigration judge to issue one.

Now, Abrego is urging Xinis to block his redetention. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
