The GOP does seem to be treating the healthcare cliff as a problem now, and I think you can firmly place that on election results from last Tuesday

I agree with this take that the GOP is not going to be able to figure out a good solution and what we get is going to suck.
BUT, it is interesting that Johnson is saying that its now top priority. There does seem to be acceptance that something needs to be done here even amongst the GOP.

So, we're fucked.
VAN SUSTEREN: Is the Republican healthcare solution going to go into effect at midnight on Dec. 31? Because people are gonna get sticker shock
MIKE JOHNSON: We have November and December to work on it

Following this weekend’s indictments of Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz, MLB has announced that, in collaboration with major sports books, single pitch wagers are being capped at $200 and excluded from all parlays:

Was supposed to go to a lunch with my representative on Thursday (group thing, not 1 on 1, I'm not that important lol) but he's going back to Washington instead probably.

Surrounded by loved ones, <insert name here> passed away peacefully in his sleep at <insert hospital here>. To a one, and in one voice, his friends and family would like to say "Thank God that's over with."
Give me the opening line of the spite obit you’d write. No need to identify the decedent. Let fly.

Wonder how much of this is “old people think young people should pay more” vs “young people think young people should pay less.”
hm. from CATO but you gotta wonder how this ends up looking politically

Reduction in Force. All people RIF'ed from October 1st to now need to be rehired, and no RIFs are allowed until the end of the CR.
The mechanism of enforcement is the Anti-deficiency act, which is real and has serious teeth, and the explicit nature of how it's spelled out is not nothing.

What is RIF language?

I tend to think that this here is an underrated "could get interesting" in the house. Launching torpedos into big industries that have pull in specific districts can get dangerous for bills passing.
also: are any of them mad about destroying billions in hemp industry dollars in their state?

Massie is a guaranteed no, which means the R's can lose all of like 2 votes in the house, which is always math in that caucus of frothing howler monkeys that can be problematic.

This is the dumbest possible way of trying to position this as something SCOTUS can't overturn and its so stupid.

The funniest part about all of this is that Rand Paul is probably going to get the orange boy big mad by about Wednesday and we're gonna see some ace tweets about it.
(until the bill gets passed, the ATC situation is going to be where it's at, and he's going to be saddled with a bunch of MAGA cronies whining about their flights being delayed)

In which the president of the United States acts in a very normal and sane fashion
In a new post, President Trump makes various threats and promises to air traffic controllers who have very, very difficult jobs and hold the safety of air travel in their hands.

If I'm the dems, I think I come out of this knowing that there's support amongst at least the GOP senate for normalizing the approps process and reigning in Vought. That's basically what we got out of this.
Generally I think Christmas being a mess will make DJT more unpopular though yeah

Is there an angle on drawing things out bc Dems want time for Trump to be even more unpopular in hopes that GOP will disregard him? At what point does he become toothless - when he’s dead? It’s frustrating that the Dems are always seen as needing to save voters from the GOP - whom they elected

There is also this, yes. And I do imagine we'll be right back here when subsidies go down in December.
But also isn’t this just a deal that lasts through January? This is not the end of this fight

It is important to note that anyone other than probably CCM who has any interest in being relevant in dem party politics and isn't retiring soon noted out of this deal.
