Hi BlueSky! I don’t post much on socials (blame it on the ADHD and imposter syndrome) but this seems like a fun place to scream into the void.

In terms of what will be on here: leftist politics, books, theater, anti-racist activism, law stuff, librarian stuff, history stuff, random stuff.

Enjoy!

Some of the most dangerous and racist white people in this country have been the ones trying to tell you to abandon red states and turn against the most at risk in society all so they can maintain their power without doing anything to stop the actual systems of oppression they maintained and built.

I'm honestly scared shitless about everything happening in this country and I have no idea where it goes but I am heartened to see normal people standing up for each other and having each other's backs while our government and our party are allowing us to be overrun by fascism and siding with them

We should take it away from them, in my opinion.
World’s richest 1% increased wealth by $33.9 trillion since 2015, Oxfam says share.inquirer.com/ajXvYd
“…Chris Evans, a professor of taxation at the University of New South Wales, described “gross inequality in wealth” as “a disaster for social cohesion.” 🎯🎯🎯

That amount is “more than enough to eliminate annual poverty 22 times over,” according to a new analysis from the anti-poverty group.

On the same day, the Senate voted against their Constitutional authority and SCOTUS ruled against theirs. Incredible how quickly people are willing to give up their own power in favor of ideology.
This War Powers vote wasn’t asking Congress if bombing Iran was a good move. And if any member of Congress thinks it’s called for in the future, they can vote to authorize force against Iran then.

This vote merely asserted Congress’s Constitutional role. Fetterman et. al. voted against having one.
Fetterman voted against the Kaine War Powers resolution, Rand joined the Democrats.

I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Diyaa. Diyaa is 28 and before this he was a taxi driver and was engaged to be married to Israa. He has lost his taxi (which was his only source of income) and home and is now struggling to just get basic goods without being killed.

Again, I’d like to encourage the people who think it’s a good idea to embrace a cruel and capricious dictatorship, while making it clear no legal or legislative authority can stop them from ruining ordinary people’s lives, to keep on reading to see what usually happens next.

The irony is, the more you capitulate with fascism thinking it will protect you, the more it does to put you at risk. Capitulation just momentarily slows the destruction it will never arrest fascist power or its destructive goals.

See? It's not hard.
Here one of Elon Musk's lickspittles explains their plan: Persuade regular Americans to accept huge cuts to Social Security and Medicare so that billionaires can get gigantic tax cuts. I don't think they'll be able to pull it off, but we'll see.

I was wrong. @jessefarrar.com wrote our collective epitaph.
There have been tens of thousands of news reports and opinion pieces written about Trump but you could just put this tweet in a history book and it would cover the last 8 years
