year 1: "Why y'all talk about procurement so much? How boring."
yr 2: "Man, procurement's a pain."
yr 3: "We should really consider doing something about procurement"
yr 4: "Holy crap there's nothing more important than solving procurement!"
On the scale of indignities the internet inflicts on us it's pretty low but I still harbor a hatred for the retargeting nonsense where a company sends you an ad and you click on it and then they send you like three emails a day for a week asking "do you still want it? did you forget about it?" etc.

Abundance fans, come get your boy
@jessicavalenti.bsky.social is very right that Ezra Klein is very wrong, both morally and strategically, with this argument that throwing half the population under the bus (the half that already leans more Democratic).

We’d be in a much stronger position right now if mainstream Democrats had taken a common sense stand for First Amendment principles instead of piling on undergraduate standing up for Palestine.

Oh look Malcolm Gladwell is even more wrong about trans women than he is about everything else. www.lgbtqnation.com/2025/09/icon...
Iconic writer Malcolm Gladwell says he's "100%" against trans women in sports: "This is nuts." - LGBTQ Nation
Gladwell said he is "ashamed" he once supported trans inclusion: "It was a particular moment, which has passed."

There is absolutely no excuse for any Democrat asked about trans athletes to ever respond with anything but “why are you wasting my time asking about FEWER THAN FIFTEEN CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS IN THE ENTIRE COUNTRY WHO WANT TO PLAY GAMES WITH THEIR FRIENDS. What is wrong with you?”

In a museum a couple days ago I noticed they referred to dates as B.C.E and C.E. instead of B.C. and A.D. I'm surprised Trump hasn't complained about this. I mean I realize museums are not his turf, but it seems like the kind of thing that he'd denounce as Too Woke.

Why are they they fighting Zohran harder than they’re fighting Trump
Hakeem Jeffries has reportedly told allies that if Zohran Mamdani wins, he can't become Speaker of the House.

Leaders like Jeffries see this fight as existential for their control of the party:

Whereas a lot of Jews are like “as a normal person, Mamdani thinks what’s happening in Gaza is outrageous”
Kind of weirded out by all of these non-Jewish politicians claiming to speak on behalf of the Jews, I have to say.

If you’re an elected Democrat (rightly) complaining about the GOP kicking 17 million people off of Medicaid, now is a good and credible time to critique the entire broken work-based non-universal US healthcare system. Now is the time to call for universal healthcare, for Medicare for All.

stop running away from trans people and fight back
Democrat Billie Butler has won a special election for the NH House by a 55-45 margin, very close to Harris' 55-44 margin in 2024.

Butler, a trans woman, was the target of vicious anti-trans attacks by Republicans.

sorry I can't get over how cynical this is. dude *just* voted for a bill that was pushed by the crypto lobby and left out any protections against Trump's corruption. *now* he's claiming to address the issue with a bill that will never pass? this is galling even by modern Dem standards
Donald Trump and other senior administration officials have made a fortune off of crypto schemes.

Today, I'm introducing the COIN Act to put a stop to this corruption in plain sight.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that the continued existence of human civilization is a partisan issue.
At GSA, in the Biden administration, we were determined to build as much federal EV infrastructure as quickly as possible: buy vehicles, run greater power capacity to facilities, install chargers. Because a Republican administration wouldn’t undo all of *that*.

Yet here we are:
👀 Scoop: Trump and Republicans want USPS to sell off its brand new EVs and chargers.

That would mean literally **ripping up post office parking lots** to auction off assets with no private-sector value.

It’s buried in the Senate’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

If there's one legacy of the War in Iraq that Democrats should have internalized, it's the fact that those who lined up behind the war drums all came to regret that decision while those who wisely refused to go along were soon vindicated.

One of the latter rode that decision to the White House!
UPDATE — At least *37* members of Congress have now signed on to efforts against the Trump-Vance administration's moves towards war on Iran.

+5 since yesterday.

Gavin Newsom vetoed a data broker privacy bill that our legislature passed last year that would have allowed Californians to opt out of all data brokers with a single click.
The Minnesota shooter apparently used data broker websites to find the home addresses of the people he shot and murdered.

Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again.

Their inaction is deadly.
