TLDR: Them congresspeople do weirdly well with stock gains. 👀
After becoming a congressional leader, a politician’s stock portfolio beats out those of peers by 47 (!!!) percentage points a year through trades timed around bills and firms that later get government contracts

"Never spread the lie in the headline" should be a hard rule of 21st century journalism.

Research shows that repeating lies helps to spread them, and people read headlines more than they read stories.
News media has to do better with headlines that present false and unverified public health claims.

Your isolation is not accidental. It’s intentional.

A client of mine recently attended two international tech conferences and reached out to share his experience.

The first, he said, was “status quo white dudes and a handful of women.” The second, Mozilla Festival, felt completely different:

This is how it works: We protect each other, period. These are our neighbors, our friends, our family. We do the things we have to do to ensure that as many of us can make it to tomorrow as possible. Not everyone does. I need you to understand that we tried.

Arlington ran Stephen Miller out of town with chalk drawings. Apparently seeing messages like: "we [love] immigrants,” “hate has no home in Arlington,” “no white nationalism,” and “trans rights are human rights,” in sidewalk chalk was too scary for the poor lamb.

This looks more like an excuse to surveil anyone they choose. That aside, I have a copy editing question: when the word "antifa" is used to refer to an organization, should it be referred to in quotes since it doesn't exist as an organization?
ICE "has been rapidly building out its surveillance capabilities in recent weeks, signing a string of contracts for technologies to identify individuals by their irises or facial features and to monitor their cellphone activity, social media posts and physical movements," per spending disclosures.
ICE amps up its surveillance powers, targeting immigrants and antifa
Iris scanners, facial recognition apps, phone-hacking software and cellphone location data are among the agency’s recent technological purchases.

There are some very strange things going on at the Library of Congress. I’m doing searches for news articles from the Civil Rights Era. Political cartoons. That sort of thing. They used to be easily found.

That stuff is VERY hard to find now. Things are missing, people.

Cis ladies, do you like yoga pants and voting and guys in eyeliner?

Cis dudes, do you like glam rock, metal, and Katharine Hepburn?
