This is an excellent article written by @garethgore.bsky.social on how Leonard Leo and Opus Dei have and continue to change the structure and politics in the US.
Opus Dei and the Moneybags Kid
In his new book OPUS, Gareth Gore examines the ties binding Supreme Court puppetmaster Leonard Leo and a radical, powerful Catholic organization.

On this, the last day of Michael D. Higgins' presidency, I think it's important to acknowledge that a 5'3 man deciding to be followed everywhere by two enormous Bernese Mountain dogs was a great bit.

So there's a number the EU regulators might want to bookmark..
Meta earns $3.5 billion every six months from showing Faceboon and Instagram users 15 billion “higher legal risk” scam ad impressions a day, internal documents state.

That haul vastly exceeds how much the company expects regulators
To fine it for running scam ads.

The Government lurching to the right was 100% inevitable after the presidential election; this is how they deal with failure rather than any form of reflection.

But I'm fairly shocked at the speed and vigour with which they've done it, not letting the attempted murder of refugees get in their way

If we argued for a hierarchy of violence from riots and broken windows to murder, we have already been on the far end of the scale for too long. This has yet to trigger any terrorism protocols, despite clearly fitting the criteria. Unclear if leadership is waiting for someone to inevitably die.

So we're about to enter an extremely racist era in Irish politics, all because our leader fucked up a presidential campaign to never before seen levels, and now he has to get competitively racist to save his own skin.

Bizarre how FFG politicians and others can look at the aftermath of #Áras25 and instead of strategising to capture some of the voters who *won*, they seem intent on courting the weirdos who did *even worse* than they managed.

If one of the appliances in your home, say your cooker or fridge, ran using ten times the power of a normal one, you‘d replace it as fast as possible and never go near that manufacturer again, because you’d think they were catastrophically bad at making stuff.

But it’d be cool if it talked, right?

As I've poimted out numerous times recently, the Irish political establishment has no idea how to deal with the nascent threat of the far right, instinctively taking the wrong option every single time.
Connelly was an independent who did the work, got on the ballot, and won.
The far right did not.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said the Oireachtas may have to look at changing the process by which a person gets on the ballot in presidential elections, which he described as "restrictive".

Ppl with disabilities [PWD] are excluded, not forgotten.

Ireland has a population of 5.4m Some 1.1m have a disability & 400,000 have a severe disability. Yet one presidential candidate is infamous for her anti-PWD actions. That Heather Humphreys was nominated says it all #Aras25 #SpeirGhorm
