Gary Gannon on the disturbing lack of outrage over the death of four-year-old Tadgh Farrell, and his aunt Mary Holt, were deliberately burned to death in their home.

Silence, in moments like this, is not neutral. It is a political choice and one we will be judged for.
It’s been a week since we heard the horrifying news that four-year-old Tadgh Farrell, and his grand aunt Mary Holt, were killed in an arson attack on her home.

Given the clear urgency to go to war, it might be useful if the minister clarified who exactly she plans to go to war with.

When we 'take back sovereignty' what does she plan to do with it?

If Fianna Fáil knew about Jim Gavin in advance then it'll be clear that being a dodgy landlord wasn't an issue for them.

It was being a dodgy landlord and getting caught that was the issue.

The Department of Housing now offers helpful advice on how to deal with the consequences of their generational failure.
“A very bad joke”, “embarrassing”, “patronising”, “dystopian”, and “tone deaf” are some of the words that have been used to describe a video from the Department of Housing advising people on moving back in with their parents.

A surprising result, given the recent full throated attack on access to justice from the government and media.

Perhaps people are protective of their rights and don't want them diluted at the behest of developers?

Harry McGee, on the IT politics podcast, just asserted that the recent drones seen around Zelenskyy’s visit were military grade weapons launched from within the Irish state by foreign agents. There’s no evidence for any of this, it’s absolutely unhinged.

Cruelty is anhedonic. It rarely delivers the euphoria promised because, in the abstract, what feels righteous and joyful inevitably reveals itself to be sordid and small. Then it's "No not like that". "No not enough". "No the real battle, the forever war to make this feel good starts now". Forever.
Note how these awful people are getting exactly the exclusions of children that they demanded and *that still isn’t enough for them*: they demand everyone be delighted about it and kiss their arses for being brilliant.

Parnell Street is proof enough of this. Without the immigrant community it would be a wasteland, with the immigrant community it's lively and a pleasant place to be.
I live in (what I think I'm correct in saying is) the most diverse constituency in the whole country - Dublin Central, D1 - *and* I'm old enough to remember what this place was like before significant immigration, and the idea that immigration hasn't been good for this country is fucking laughable
