What a beautiful day with Catherine Connolly in the Inner City yesterday. Catherine has tapped into something special, the energy and hope in this campaign to elect a president with values, integrity, and a real connection to the people she seeks to serve. You can feel it building everyday.

I was devastated to hear that my good friend Cat O’Driscoll was assaulted while simply walking along the street last week. Something is fundamentally broken in this city & it won’t be addressed without serious state intervention.

Myself and Ethel were delighted to get down this morning to lend our support to the wonderful secretaries and caretakers. It’s a shame that they are now a full week into their strike. They should never have had to stand this long for the basic decency of pension parity and fair leave entitlements.

Yesterday I had the privilege of speaking at the Fergus McCabe Summer School marking 30 years of CityWide. CityWide’s work over the past three decades has been crucial and as we shape the new National Drugs Strategy community groups like them must have a seat at the table.

Govt must not repeat the same failed approach to expansion of prison system by treating rehabilitation as an afterthought.

Otherwise, we’re not building a justice system.

We’re just expanding the same broken cycle, brick by brick.

Decision to close Dublin city centre’s only public toilets is a shortsighted move.

It shows just how little planning or imagination exists at the heart of govt.

We should be investing in infrastructure that serves the public good.

Not content with the murder of children, the targeting of journalists, and the annihilation of Gaza, Israel has drone-struck a flotilla bringing aid into Gaza.

This is extraordinary - the Government needs to do absolutely everything in its power now to stop this.
