Good poll result for the @social-democrats.bsky.social today. We’ve effectively doubled our % in just over a year. Our style of politics isn’t the easiest way of doing it- we stay true to our values & won’t compromise in bringing forward evidence based solutions. There’s a lot more to come 💜

Disturbing that a garda investigation was carried out into the source of media reports concerning the case of a serving member of the force charged with domestic violence.

Justice Minister must make a statement to the Dáil.

Deeply disturbing report of Drug Related intimidation on Morning Ireland just now. A plague that is decimating communities throughout Ireland- but one which government seem entirely disinterested in confronting.

I doubt FIFA has any shame, but if European Countries refused to play their World Cup games in the US, it would certainly give them something to think about.

If someone built a tool allowing strangers to create sexualised images of children, we would shut it down immediately.

So why is the government treating X and Grok with kid gloves when their products are causing so much harm?

The Minister for Justice is very good at controlling the narrative..

A true politician for this post-truth age. Failing upwards. Spectacularly. Our next Taoiseach.
Question to Minister for Justice from @garygannontd.bsky.social: So, how many people have you been prevented from deporting because of the ECHR?

Minister's reply: Uh, dunno.

Hundreds of thousands of vile sexualised non-consensual images of women and children have been created by Grok, X’s AI tool.

This isn't just horrifying – it's illegal.

The Govt response to this has been muted and confusing.

When will X be prosecuted?

How do they get away with this stuff? They’re either purposefully misleading, or just blatantly ignorant to the facts. Family reunification accounts for less than 1% of inward migration to Ireland. It just means a traumatised person gets to be with their spouse or child while they restart their life

In Dublin, on Fenian Street, there's a factory that makes child sex abuse material.

You can pay it money, as a subscription, and that's one of the services it offers. This doesn't happen by mistake or because you've tricked or hacked the system.

It’s a feature.

Brilliant morning at the STRIPE Young Scientist. I was so impressed by the innovation and intellectual curiosity from the students we met from Dublin Central. The projects ranged from the use of textiles in medical devices, to the impact of DEIS status on student wellbeing and academic performance.

This minister seems to believe that the State has no responsibility with regards to preventing a company, based here in Ireland, from providing the tools by which child sexual abuse material has been generated by its own paid subscribers. A truly bizarre thing to say.
