Yay! Co Clare here too! C'mon the Banner!

Ta for the info on Motu Propio.... Must look into that further.

As for the Davinci code, it really is only pulp fiction and you might as well be believing in the Illuminatus Trilogy 😏 The CC is a shady shitshow but we don't need to go totally mad! 😅🤣

Doesn't surprise me one bit. He's a power-hungry psychopath so Opus Dei is a perfect fit for him. We have a few here in Ireland who'd get along very well with him (I'm looking at you Sen Rónán Mullen 😒)

We overturned that in recent years. You seem to be under the impression that Opus Dei is fictional. I only popped up here to tell you they're very real and they're coming after your rights.

Have a good one, all the best, and good night 👍

Hmm. I mean, the Davinci code was a work of the purest, crappiest pulp fiction. I don't know what the motu propio is. I'm talking about real life here.

In Ireland, Opus Dei literally cut their teeth on lobbying successive of our governments to ban abortion, and they succeeded in I think 1983.

I humbly suggest you try to understand that the Pope has always been and still is constrained by the machinations of a very shady and powerful lobby group, with some very sinister ambitions.

I'm sorry my friend but you seem pretty uneducated as to exactly how powerful Opus Dei are 😕 It's not your fault. They go under the radar for that very reason...... To stay hidden.

He can ban what he likes. Opus Dei has been a law unto itself since I don't know what pope (must bookmark and buy Gareth's book cos I'm very interested to know more!).

From Ireland as a 50+ woman, so much of our political/bodily autonomy was intercepted by this bunch of God botherers. Beware!

Oooh, does she have cats? That honestly might be the only way to get my AuDHD youngest interested in politics.

I put them up there with the "What's for you won't pass you" people. Nice god you got there hun. Dooms children to starve in war torn countries 🙄

In that regard, Paul Murphy can stop speaking for me. So yes, still agree on a referendum but I do wish we'd grow up as a country. If our votes actually carried global importance re our defence forces, perhaps we wouldn't always be voting for the parish pothole fixers.

Fair enough on all counts re the current ghouls, and the need for a referendum on the 3lock, but I am also queezy about the UN (such as it stands) vetoing our decisions and us always being the children of Europe, expecting other countries to take decisions for us because we can't trust our own.

If we argued for a hierarchy of violence from riots and broken windows to murder, we have already been on the far end of the scale for too long. This has yet to trigger any terrorism protocols, despite clearly fitting the criteria. Unclear if leadership is waiting for someone to inevitably die.

So we're about to enter an extremely racist era in Irish politics, all because our leader fucked up a presidential campaign to never before seen levels, and now he has to get competitively racist to save his own skin.
