If old farts have gone mean as fuck and viciously reactionary with age, then it’s not clear to me that young people are to blame for this or that it’s obviously them who should shut the hell up.

Caught two minutes of the BBC stuff on the news and feel sick at the idea of this pillar falling. Farage and the other cunts chomping at the bit will take the NHS next and we'll be sat listening to Third Reich FM hoping our minor injury infections take us sooner than later.

The BBC, both as a radio broadcaster, and a TV broadcaster, didn’t start out doing news at all. News is the upstart department. Its job is to act as a national fireplace. And that’s properly vital now, more than ever.
I reckon a shared national popular culture is just as important (if not more important) than a fact based, impartial news service for liberal democracy to work.

A funny thing is that you can just ignore the right wing press and be fine. They still can't make anything stick to Nicola Sturgeon for example. But they have Labour and the BBC utterly cowed.

40 years ago we’d have congressional hearings falsely accusing metal bands of putting backwards messages in their songs that told kids to kill themselves & now we have a planet-killing chatbot that’s all like “bet you won’t commit suicide chickenshit bitch” & the government is like here’s $5 billion

Seems clear everyone thought whoever was in power would have to raise taxes, including the press and the Tories, and the only people who didn’t think this would be necessary were the government, who appear to have convinced themselves the economy would boom out of sheer joy at being governed by them

Just thinking about Celebrity Traitors last night and the fact that if they’d been on that train just 10 seconds longer the scenes would have been horrific. Massive relief all round I imagine, it would have put a serious crimp on what has otherwise been a very successful series.

I've never seen normal Traitors, but loved the celebrity version. I fear that real people who actually want the money for themselves might not be as good?
What a superb series #CelebrityTraitors has been! When it was announced I thought it might not be as good as the regular Traitors. But we got something excellent in a completely different way. Definitely funnier. Arguably better? Undeniably one of the best programmes of the year.

Ah how sad. I had the privilege of sharing a few scenes with Pauline on Dickensian. She was kind, lovely and of course, brilliant. RIP

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

Definitely good news, but go further, scrap GCSES altogether. Let children have fun, explore, create, work as teams, not just remember facts and get tested.
