After so many dubious claims that "video games cause violence," "video games are no substitute for therapeutic analog violence" is such a refreshingly original criticism. Bette Davis is now my second-favorite video game skeptic, behind only Roger Ebert.

IN THE HAMMERSTEIN PAPERS at the Library of Congress there are many drafts of well-known lyrics that can teach any writer about the importance of revision, but this one is my favorite. On a slip of paper, in pencil, is written:
Doe is a [very] word

It's always good to remember that someone sweated over lines that now seem effortless and inevitable.
