#35 BOB VYLAN - Makes Me Violent (2024)

Two favourites from two bands that have suffered unnecessarily because they're willing to stand on principle. The last few years really have been very revealing.

wise choice for the bbc to cave to bad faith hysteria from trump et al — as we know in the united states, once you do that, they're definitely satisfied forever and nothing ever happens to you again
Bulletin: BBC director general Tim Davie and BBC News CEO Deborah Turness are resigning "following criticism that a BBC Panorama documentary misled viewers by editing a speech by US President Donald Trump."

Democrats negotiated a plan where a 8 completely safe dems would vote to open and the rest can post “i voted no” thats what all the negotiations were about: how they would explain the optics of the loss. it was never about saving healthcare

Truly amazing that any time the democrats have to bite the bullet and do something that ruins countless lives, there's always *just* enough votes to get it done, but if there is a vote on something that would actually improve people's lives, they are always one vote short. Crazy how that happens.

Was really struck by what a lovely inspiring exercise this is, like a primary school version of Mary Oliver’s Instructions for living a life
Pay attention.
Be astonished.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

The Mamdani sign generator is an op to make us hate the iconography of a socialist win as quickly as possible by flooding the zone with absolutely unfunny nothing.

It is the weapon of our enemy and we do not need it. We will not use it.

So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!

Hello! This is an important one, so it won’t be the last time I post it. The Land Defenders on Hunters Mountain are gearing up for winter. They are resolute. But they need supplies, they are winterizing the cabins they built, there is food and firewood and gas for generators needed.

Had this been a 40mhz 385-DX they'd have got away with it, I think.
🕹️ Bytes of Gaming History ⌛

The Amstrad Mega PC! DOS and Mega Drive gaming all in one sleek beige package. I'm still a little weirded out by the beige 3-button pad, tho. xD

Released in 1993 for £999 (before dropping to £599) this cool hybrid was built around a core of a 25mhz 386SX.
